365 Project Day 267

The Seniors that Phil works with threw him a party for his birthday. They had a big cake with a giant dragon topper and they gave him this cute little guy. Phil hung it on the wall in our room which is fine with me but it scared the crud out of me when I walked in the first time, not knowing it was there. It does seem to stare at me when I sleep though. Thank goodness I like the room really dark when I sleep. I just pretend he's not there.

365 Project Day 266

************************************************************************
Happy Birthday, Phil!
What a blessing it has been to spend so many (almost half) of your birthdays together! You have brought so much love, laughter and joy into my life. You are a truly wonderful man and I will love you always and forever. Blessings today and everyday! Happy Birthday, baby!

365 Project Day 265

One of the Seniors that Phil works with at the Rec Center gave him these dolls. They are called "Mr. Wonderful" dolls. They both say things that the "perfect" man is supposed to say. Things like "Here, you take the remote. As long as I'm with you...I dont care what we watch." and "Actually, Im not sure which way to go. I'll turn in here and ask directions." and "Awww...cant your mother stay another week?" The funny thing is Phil normally says almost all the things these dolls jokingly say. I always knew he was a keeper.

365 Project Day 264

Carolyn's doll is progressing. Bethany wants her to be our own version of Coraline, complete with button eyes and even a button key. We'll see how she turns out. Hopefully Coraline, I mean Carolyn, will appreciate all the thought Bethany is putting into her gift.

365 Project Day 263

Remember the tags I posted on Day 228? Well I mailed them to the host and she put all of our tags into books and sent them back. Each book features tags from 12 artists. The host of this swap did 2 groups of 12 each plus herself for a total of 26 books she had to create! I stand in awe of her awesomenessness!!

365 Project Day 262

I dont know how long this electric pan has been around but I know it was my grandmother's and that my grandfather replaced the knob that broke off with a wooden cabinet knob. Its been mine for years. I dont use it often but there are still a couple of things that I wont cook in anything else. Everytime I get it down and plug it in I think of my grandmother and all the meals she must have made with it. I wish I could have known her as an adult. I owe so much of what I am to her and her influence on my parents. I hope that if she can see me now that I make her proud to call me her granddaughter.

365 Project Day 261

Phil brought these home the other day to see what I thought. If you like Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies, then these are for you. Yummy!!

365 Project Day 260

Austin spotted this little guy on the back patio so I grabbed the camera. Not a big fan of bugs but the praying mantis is just so cool and unusual. I dont want to touch it especially...but I can appreciate it from afar.

365 Project Day 259

Bethany asked me to make a doll for her friend, Carolyn for her birthday so the two of us have been working together to design and create her. We've also been watching the second season of Dexter which is a show we both really enjoy. If you dont watch the show, you wont really appreciate that the picture is sort of an homage to the show.

365 Project Day 258

Hosted Bunco at my house last night and as always it was the highlight of my month. I've been blessed to be a part of this group for more than 8 years now and although the members have changed many times, the fun never ends. This is not the full group as 4 were absent and replaced by subs. Hopefully we'll get a picture of the whole group the next time we are all together. Truly some of the very best women I've ever met and I am incredibly blessed to have each one of them in my life.

365 Project Day 257

***************************************************************************
Happy Birthday, Bethany!!
Happy Birthday, my beautiful girl! You are such an absolute joy and the funniest person I know. God knew without a doubt that I needed you in my life and I am so thankful that He blessed me and allowed me to be your mom. I cant even find the words to tell you how incredible you are, how much better my life is with you in it and how much joy you bring to everyone who's life you touch. I love you sweet, funny girl! Today, tomorrow and always!

Homecoming 2009!

Go Panthers!

Tonight was our homecoming and this is the t-shirt Artha made to wear to school today. Of course at the game she was in her band uniform. After months with no rain it has actually been a rainy week for us. Although rain did not cause the game to be cancelled it did reak havoc for the band who marched without any woodwinds and wearing panchos. According to Artha they all looked like giant blueberries. I'm actually really sorry I missed seeing that. I had to work.

365 Project Day 256

After a stormy afternoon we had a transformer blow in our neighborhood and were without power for almost 4 hours. Once the girls came home we had fun trying to find things to entertain ourselves including a game of Yahtzee in the dark. The hands are Artha's and this was the only picture I could get of either of them. The other is blurry because, well, its dark. Tried it with the flash and it looked like a bright sunny day so went without for this one so you could get the full impact. We did notice how quiet it is without anything running in the house. We never realized how loud something like the dog chewing and swallowing his food was without all that other noise going on in the house.

365 Project Day 253

Finally getting the last of my ATART cards mailed out. The last to go are my international ones. Amazing to think that pieces of my art will be traveling the world. In this pile alone I have cards going to Singapore, Cyprus, Scotland, Belgium, Finland and the UK. I think thats so cool!

365 Project Day 251

I think these are the last of them but there may be one or two strays that show up. It was a fun weekend with lots of creating and trading with people all over the world doing the same thing. Pretty cool!

365 Project Day 250

and still more ATART returns.

365 Project Day 249

Its been a long time since I worked as hard as I do in my new job at HEB. Thank you, God for Advil! It has become my new best friend.

365 Project Day 252

365 Project Day 248

and more ATART returns.

365 Project Day 247

Still more ATART returns.

365 Project Day 246

Tonight was the annual Band Spaghetti Dinner. Always a fun night as the bands from 2 middle schools and our own PHS Panther Band perform for parents and raise money for the band programs with a spaghetti dinner. Always such a joy to watch my kids play and so thrilling to hear the marching band play their show music. Never fails to give me chills or make me cry.

365 Project Day 245

Here are some of the cards that I got in return for my ATART trades.

365 Project Day 244

Couldnt resist another picture of my beautiful, sweet Zoe!

365 Project Day 243

First day of work at HEB! Its been a long time since I've worked retail and had to be on my feet for hours. Figured I needed all the help I could get!

365 Project Day 242

Here are some more cards that I created for the ATART. I made a total of 21 cards over the weekend and traded cards with 15 people from all over the world!

365 Project Day 241

Here are some more of the cards that I created for the ATART.

365 Project Day 240

This weekend I participated in an Art-a-thon. The site where I trade all my cards hosts these and they are usually specific about the type of art. There are Collage-a-thons, Stamp-a-thons, Draw-a-thons, etc. and everything made and traded needs to be done in that type of art. This one is the only one I like because its an All-Types-of-art-a-thon or ATART for short. From noon on Friday your time to midnight on Sunday your time you create as much as you can, of whatever you want and trade and swap with others who are also participating. The trading gets crazy but its so much fun! These are some of the cards that I created during the weekend.

365 Project Day 239

Bethany just walked around taking pictures for me the other day and I think she did a pretty awesome job. Problem is, now I have to come up with interesting things to say about the images. Hmmmm...
What is the life span of a ceiling fan? This one has been spinning away for us for...WOW...about 20 years! Phil and my dad installed it in the rental house we lived in in Austin (the city) before Austin (our son) was born! We moved it with us to this house and its been spinning along here ever since. Wow! Talk about getting your money's worth!

365 Project Day 238

This has to be one of my all time favorite and most used tools in my arts and crafts work. Its called a Xyron. It basically turns anything that you can run through it into a sticker. I use it all the time with my art cards and I'm in a real panic if I run out of refills for it. I know I can get along without it. I mean I can use a glue stick or something if I have to. But this little baby just makes it so much easier, so much neater and so much faster and as long as I can get the refills at Michaels with a 40% coupon, I'm gonna keep right on using it.

365 Project Day 237

Poor, long-suffering Zoe! She has put up with more than her fair share of indignities over the years (being dressed in doll clothes, riding in a doll stroller, wearing a baby hat, etc.) She is always so patient though and lets us have our fun knowing that if she just sits there and looks bored we'll eventually lose interest and let her go back to her nap.

365 Project Day 236

Bethany and I both just think these look cool. Just two old reels of copper wire. I hope to find ways to incorporate the wire into my art work but in the meantime, I just love the way they look!

365 Project Day 235

Mom and Dad
Happy 60th Anniversary!
Love you very, very much!
