365 Project Day 235

Mom and Dad
Happy 60th Anniversary!
Love you very, very much!

365 Project Day 234

I spent the last few days working on medallions for the graduating FUSE kids. Confused? Okay, I'll explain. Its become a tradition every year for me to create medallions designed by our youth leader for him to present to the kids that are graduating from the middle school (FUSE) youth group to the high school youth group at our church. Each year I am asked to make more and more (this year it was 25) which is a great thing. It means our youth groups continue to grow and more kids are touched by the amazing people who dedicate so much time to them and to their walk with God.

365 Project Day 232

Dang...I was so close and tried so hard but I got these out of order anyway.
Okay, so Bethany and I spent an agonizing couple of hours standing in line at her school but we managed to get her schedule picked up and her books checked out. Do they really have to go back?

365 Project Day 233

Happy Anniversay, AJ and Utah! Its hard to believe its been 5 years since that stormy, wonderful day when you exchanged your vows between downpours. Despite the weather, it was a wonderful wedding and such a happy day! Congrats!

365 Project Day 231

Unlike a lot of parents I hate sending my kids back to school after vacation is over. I love spending time with them. They are just so much fun to have around. Bethany and I are night owls and we have had so much fun staying up late at night and playing video games. She kicks my butt every night but we have such fun together and she always makes me laugh. She really is so fun to be with and I'm thankful that at least for now, she thinks I am too!

365 Project Day 230

Okay, so its official. I start working for HEB next week. This is hugely stressful for me as anxiety has made keeping a job for any length of time nearly impossible for most of my life. I have no choice right now so regardless of my anxiety I have to make this work. One shift at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time...

365 Project Day 229

This box has been travelling from house to house every month since we started our Bunco group 8 years ago. Its holding up remarkably well. Bunco is at my house next month so it will reside here with me until then. I'm debating whether I ought to spruce it up a bit, maybe add a little flare to it? Hmmm.....

365 Project Day 228

These are tags made for another swap. The hostess will take tags from 12 participants and create a tag book with one from each person. The theme was Artistic Inspiration and each participant will receive a tag book. Her next swap is for Creepy Art Dolls. Cant wait to get started on those!

365 Project Day 227

Here are the last three for the Tin-Type Swap. The scans dont really do them justice. They are much cooler in person. This was another swap with the option of trading 3/3 or 6/6 and I loved the technique so much I decided to do 6/6. As always I made an extra for the host.

365 Project Day 226

Here are a couple more for the Faux Tin-Type Swap.

365 Project Day 225

These cards were made for a swap using different methods to create faux tin-type photos. If you arent familiar with tin-type it was an early form of photography which created portraits on a piece of tin which gave them this shiny, ghostly sort of appearance. This was really a fun swap. I love old pictures anyway and have a wealth of them from my mom's family. Being able to create my own was really fun. I used a technique called packing tape transfer which is one of my favorite techniques anyway. This was just a new twist on it and I definitely plan to do more.

365 Project Day 224

Here is my latest art piece. It depicts my most painful moments. My heart has been ripped from my chest and is bound and far away. The text reads..."my heart"..."emptiness"...and "alone". There are symbols for time waiting, gears of life slowly grinding along despite the pain...the black empty hole where my heart should be. She is holding scissors and a paper heart with scraps of other hearts at her feet as she tries desperately to fill the hole, even temporarily, where her heart should be. The idea came to me in a time of deepest depression and it was a very healing process to create it.

365 Project Day 223

camera issue...update to come.

365 Project Day 222

After having Katie with us for nearly 2 weeks, Beth and Bill came to pick her up and take her home. It's been forever since I had the chance to see my sister. The visit was short but wonderful and hopefully there will be more to come.

365 Project Day 221

camera issue...update to come.

365 Project Day 220

Here are the last two for the Apple Swap.

365 Project Day 219

Here are a couple more cards that I did for the Apple swap. This swap gave the option of either trading 3 for 3 or 6 for 6. I always make an extra as a gift for the host. Since I love all things apple I decided to go ahead and do the 6/6 option.

365 Project Day 217

Here are the other two for the July PAT Collaged group. The themes for these two were Birthday and Coffee.

365 Project Day 218

Artha and her friends reach the summit of Mt. Elbert, CO. The highest point in Colorado. Artha suffered terribly from altitude sickness and couldnt eat the whole way up the mountain but she persevered, relied fully on God and the encouragement of her friends and she made it. An accomplishment that few of us will ever have the opportunity to have. I'm so incredibly proud of her and so happy that she had the chance to test herself like this. She truly lived in God's promise that all things are possible with Him and for the rest of her life she can look back on this as living proof that with Him, she can do anything!

365 Project Day 216

These are for the second group in the July PAT. These had to be collaged. The themes for these two were Sheep and Cupcakes.

365 Project Day 215

This child never ceases to crack me up. Here she has taken my kitchen towel (I know...ewww...it went right in the laundry after) and has decided to scrub Buddy clean. Silly dog stood right there and let her do it too. She is just too funny!

365 Project Day 214

Here's my girl! Artha spent this week in Colorado with her youth group and did things she never imagined she'd do. I'm so incredibly proud of her for putting all fear aside and going for it. This picture was taken by one of her friends and I think its just amazing. My little girl is hanging off the side of a mountain...and loving it!!

365 Project Day 213

Here's my pretty little princess with a face full of pizza. She looks so grown up in her headband and I couldnt pass on a picture of those beautiful bright eyes. What a blessing she is! Light of my life!

365 Project Day 212

As previously mentioned, the white board on our refrigerator where we keep our grocery lists has become a magnet for the girl's friends who like to sign it and leave messages when they come over. Well with summer comes more friends over and now there is barely room for me to keep a list going. I hate to erase them because they are all so sweet. I may have to find another white board to put up just so I can have room for both!

365 Project Day 211

Sarah and Trin couldnt wait to come over and see Katie. Its been quite a while since Katie saw them and Trin has changed so much.

365 Project Day 210

Back home again and so blessed to have my niece, Katie with us for a while. She is such a love and the absolute spitting image of her mom.

365 Project Day 209

Not sure if I'm going to join this swap yet but I thought I'd try a few ideas and see if I liked them. The theme for this one is Whimsy Fat Girls and since I am one, I thought maybe I'd at least give it a try.
